The best place to start this tour is Graz, Europe’s cultural capital 2003. The city of Graz is on the UNESCO’s list of world heritage sites. It offers visitors historic buildings and places and world-class modern architecture. From Graz take the road to Fürstenfeld in the thermal region. The surrounding spas, one designed by the famous Austrian artist Hundertwasser, are true oases of relexation and well-being. Also the nearby castles and fortresses are very well worth a visit. If you want to explore the area a bit further, the Youth & Family Guesthouse in Fürstenfeld with its surrounding park, its sunny terrace and volleyball is a great place to stay overnight and to start your excursions from.

The next stop along the way is the Youth & Family Guesthouse in the midst of the Styrian Volcanic Region. Millions of years ago volcanic activity has formed the attractive landscape of this area. Take along your walking shoes, this area is perfect for extended strolls.

From Gnas you drive to the origin of the Schilcher wine, a dry rose wine growing only in the area of Deutschlandsberg due to ist special microclimate. Explore the pituresque vineyards and don’t miss a visit at one of the numerous Buschenschank. This typical private inns mostly serve homemade products, truly a special treat. Deutschlandsberg has a lot to offer and we therefore recommend to stay several days in this area. The new Youth & Family Guesthouse in Deutschlandsberg is a great place to start excursions from. The guesthouses offers spacious rooms, a Finnish sauna, a bowling lane, an artelier for those who want to put their impressions into painting, and much more.

The last stop on your tour before you return to Graz or head in a different direction is Maria Lankowitz and the Piberstein lake. You will certainly enjoy the guesthouse in Maria Lankowitz and the interesting attractions in the area around Maria Lankowitz. Don’t miss to visit the Lipizzan farm in Piber, the ‘kindergarden’ and ‘school’ for the horses of the famous Spanish Riding School in Vienna.
